IRON NEST Mission 2 Guide: Fire and Light

Complete Fire and Light by plotting the current briefing, building the shot from the turret, using STAR shells, and preserving impact markers during correction.

Quick answer

Fire and Light teaches two connected skills: turn spotter information into a normal firing solution, then use a STAR shell and impact reports to correct the next shot. Always create the final range and bearing from the IRON NEST, and keep the previous impact marker until the correction has been plotted.

The available full walkthrough is labeled Demo. Use its tool relationships and failure lesson, but enter the positions and values printed by your current formal-release operation.

Read and plot the briefing

Collect the coordinates for the IRON NEST and both observers from the teleprinter. Place each token in the correct main grid and 10-by-10 sub-grid. Draw every observer bearing or distance report from the named observer, and use the intersection to place the first target.

Switch to the red measurement tool only after the target is located. Draw from the IRON NEST to the target to generate the gun-to-target range and bearing.

Prepare the first shot

At the ballistic calculator, select the required ammunition and enter the final range and intended charge. Print the task card, acquire the matching shell and powder, load the correct gun, and transfer the card's elevation and the map's bearing.

Before firing, confirm ammunition, charge, breech, bearing, elevation, armed state, and expected flight time. A large miss at this stage usually points to a map-origin or transfer error.

Use the STAR correction

The second stage uses a STAR shell above the palace or mission target area. After impact, the yellow number represents distance from the impact to the intended target, and the yellow arrow indicates direction from that impact toward the target.

Keep the impact marker. Starting at that marker, plot the reported direction and distance to produce a corrected target point. Then redraw the red line from the IRON NEST to the corrected point and calculate a new shot.

If the correction direction appears to move away from the target, check the arrow orientation and reverse the mistaken direction before firing again. Continue only after the new point, range, and card agree.

The failure that wastes the most time

The recorded walkthrough demonstrates a wrong solution built from an observer rather than the turret. The spotter line correctly helped find the target, but it could not serve as the gun's firing line. When the impact was wrong, rebuilding the final red line from the IRON NEST fixed the origin.

Completion check

Repeat the correction cycle until headquarters confirms the required result. Do not treat a plausible explosion or a copied Demo coordinate as completion; wait for the current operation's confirmation.
