Understand how charge and elevation affect IRON NEST flight time, where to read the in-game estimate, and why no universal timing formula is published here.

Use the flight-time estimate produced by the current in-game firing solution. The firing console displays the selected shell, elevation, flight time, armed state, and turret status; after firing, its timer counts toward the expected impact. Do not convert distance to time with one universal formula.

For the same target distance, a higher valid powder charge generally produces a lower elevation and shorter flight time in the demonstrated calculator workflow.

Where flight time comes from

Flight time belongs to a complete solution, not to distance alone. The selected shell, powder charge, required elevation, and current version's ballistics all matter. That is why the in-game calculator should be given the exact load that will be used at the gun.

When you increase charge while keeping target range constant, the calculator can select a flatter trajectory. The operation tutorial shows that this lowers the elevation and reduces the displayed travel time. The tradeoff is resource use and a different loading plan, not a free speed setting.

Read the firing console

Before firing, compare the console with the task card. Confirm the ammunition, elevation, armed state, and turret rotation. Note the displayed flight time so you know when to expect an impact report. After the shot, wait for the actual impact before treating a correction as valid.

Mission 2 recordings show repeated shots followed by the impact countdown and then a yellow distance-and-direction correction. The interaction chain is useful evidence even though the recording is from the Demo and its fixed numbers should not be reused.

Timing a correction

Preserve the previous impact marker while the shot is in flight. When the report arrives, plot the correction from that marker, redraw the final firing line from the IRON NEST, and calculate again. A changed range or charge creates a new flight-time estimate; do not keep the time from the last card.

For simultaneous or sequenced impacts, build every firing card first and compare their in-game estimates. Fire the longer-flight solution earlier, then the shorter one at the interval shown by the difference. Recheck the current console instead of relying on a memorized table.

Evidence boundary

The official store page describes manual ballistic operation but does not publish a flight-time formula. Current research also lacks a controlled set covering every shell and charge. This field manual therefore explains the verified controls and relationships without presenting guessed output as a calculator.
